The Champions League final in Budapest ended in heartbreak for Arsenal as Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended its title, winning a dramatic penalty shootout 4–3 after a 1–1 stalemate.

Arsenal got off to a dream start when Kai Havertz smashed home the opening goal just six minutes in. The Gunners, playing in their first final in 20 years, looked to control the game defensively from that point on.

PSG found its footing midway through the second half. After Cristhian Mosquera fouled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the box, Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé converted the resulting penalty.

In the shootout, it came down to the final spot-kicks. After Eberechi Eze missed for Arsenal and David Raya saved from Nuno Mendes, the pressure fell to Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhães. His shot sailed over the bar, sealing the victory for Luis Enrique’s side and handing PSG back-to-back European titles.
