Conference crowns and playoff dreams are on the line this weekend as conference championships kick off
Hey Team đź‘‹
I don’t know how we got here so fast, but we’ve witnessed the final week of the college football regular season – and it’s bittersweet. Rivalry Week wrapped up with some teams playing their last snap until 2026, while others look forward to conference championships or bowl invites. Not everyone gets to suit up this weekend, but the ones that do? We’re getting the best each conference has to offer.

The Conference Championship Guide

SEC: #10 Alabama vs. #3 Georgia
Time: Saturday, 12/6 — 4:00 PM
Favorite: Georgia -130
Alabama is set to take on Georgia in the SEC Championship this Saturday, and for the Tide, this is a must-win game. Alabama defeated Georgia in the first matchup of the season 24-21, but November exposed some cracks while the Dawgs only got stronger. Georgia is favored by 2.5 points, and a third loss for the Tide almost certainly ends their playoff hopes.
Big Ten: #1 Ohio State vs. #2 Indiana
Time: Saturday, 12/6 — 8:00 PM
Favorite: Ohio State -225
The Big Ten Championship may just be the most anticipated game of the season, as #2 Indiana takes on the defending champs. Ohio State and Indiana have yet to face off this season, making this game a total wild card. The Buckeyes are favored by 5.5 points, but conference championships love chaos. Regardless of the outcome, each team should still have a comfortable spot in the College Football Playoff: The winner will take the top seed, while the loser should still finish in the top five.
Big 12: #5 Texas Tech vs. #11 BYU
Time: Saturday, 12/6 — 12:00 PM
Favorite: Texas Tech -600
When the Red Raiders and Cougars met earlier this season, Texas Tech won in dominant fashion, outsourcing BYU by 22 points. If history repeats itself, the Cougars will be in a tough spot for an at-large bid. The oddsmakers agree, favoring Texas Tech by 13.5 points, but a BYU upset could open the door for both Big 12 contenders to make their way to the CFP.
ACC: #16 Virginia vs. Duke
Time: Saturday, 12/6 — 8:00 PM
Favorite: Virginia -170
The ACC has been on a wild ride this season, and its championship game is no exception. Virginia notched a decisive win over Duke in November, but the Cavaliers are only favored by 3.5 points this time around. If Duke can win the rematch, Virginia would lose its at-large bid. The Blue Devils would still have a chance at the CFP, but they’d be up against #19 James Madison. So, yes, there is a real scenario where the ACC sends no one to the CFP.
American: #20 North Texas at #21 Tulane
Time: Friday, 12/5 — 8:00 PM
Favorite: North Texas -135
If the Jon Sumrall and Lane Kiffin situations matched up, Tulane might be in trouble. Luckily for the Green Wave, Sumrall will be allowed to finish out his coaching duties for the remainder of Tulane’s season. Still, North Texas enters as a 2.5-point favorite in a game packed with major playoff implications: The winner of this game should land a playoff berth over JMU.
Sun Belt: Troy at #19 James Madison
Time: Friday, 12/5 — 7:00 PM
Favorite: James Madison -2500
The Dukes are relying on…well, Duke for a chance at a playoff spot. While James Madison is favored by 22.5 points, a win doesn’t guarantee a spot in the CFP. However, if Duke sneaks out a win over Virginia in the ACC Championship, the door is open for JMU to land an at-large bid.
Conference USA: Kennesaw State at Jacksonville State
Time: Friday, 12/5 — 7:00 PM
Favorite: Kennesaw State -120
While this game may not have playoff implications, it’s still just as fun. Jacksonville State stunned Western Kentucky last weekend to steal the Hilltoppers’ title-game ticket. Kennesaw State is favored by 1.5 points, but last weekend proved Jacksonville State is no stranger to upsets.
Mid-American: Western Michigan vs. Miami (Ohio)
Time: Saturday, 12/6 — 12:00 PM
Favorite: Western Michigan -140
Western Michigan’s consistency earned them the 2.5-point edge, but the MAC has been a minefield all season. Three teams finished 6–2 in conference play, yet Miami (OH) grabbed the ticket, despite a worse overall record than both Toledo and Ohio. Peak MAC energy.
Mountain West: UNLV at Boise State
Time: Friday, 12/5 — 8:00 PM
Favorite: Boise State -175
Without Ashton Jeanty, I worried we wouldn’t get to see a high-stakes game on the Smurf Turf, especially after the Broncos tumbled out of the rankings in Week 2. Fortunately, the Mountain West Championship takes us back to The Blue, where the Broncos will host UNLV. The Broncos are 3.5-point favorites, but the MAC isn’t the only conference with plenty of internal competition. In fact, the Mountain West had to use computer tiebreakers to choose among four 6-2 teams tied atop the conference (New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV, Boise State).
