The Calm Before the Storm

College football finally cools down, but the World Series keeps the intensity alive as the Blue Jays and Dodgers trade blows.

Hey Team 👋

This weekend might’ve been the first time all month we could finally catch our breath. After an October packed with nonstop chaos across the sports world, things stayed relatively stagnant — at least by recent standards. Still, there was no shortage of drama. College football delivered down-to-the-wire finishes, and the World Series continued to keep fans on edge. Speaking of hard-fought battles, the Dodgers’ sweep streak is officially over. The Blue Jays took Game 1, but Los Angeles bounced back to even the series in Toronto.

Week 10 AP Poll

After a season defined by chaos, Week 9 of college football offered a rare moment of calm — at least on paper. While Week 8 turned the rankings on their head, this week’s rankings stayed (mostly) intact. The favorites largely took care of business, but not without some heart-stopping moments along the way. South Carolina pushed Alabama to the brink before the Tide finally sealed it in regulation. Mississippi State gave Texas a serious scare, forcing overtime in Starkville. But not every favorite survived: Memphis clawed its way back into the rankings with a statement win over USF. And, we saw another coach bite the dust, as Brian Kelly was fired after LSU’s loss to Texas A&M. There may not have been crazy upsets or monumental shifts in rankings this weekend, but the drama never took a week off.
