Roses, Rims & and Record-Breakers

From Golden Tempo’s 23-1 stunner to Game 7 heroics, the underdogs are officially running the show.

Hey Team 👋

Welcome to a week where the "long shot" became the standard. Whether it was at Churchill Downs or across the NBA bracket, the favorites were put on notice. We witnessed history in the mud of Kentucky as Cherie DeVaux broke one of the oldest glass ceilings in sports, while on the court, the word "impossible" was deleted from the dictionary. From 23-1 underdogs to historic 3-1 series comebacks, it’s a reminder that in May, you play until the final whistle (or the final furlong).

Every first Saturday in May, the eyes of the sporting world turn to Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby. As the first leg of the elusive American Triple Crown, the Derby is a spectacle of speed, stamina and tradition that transcends horse racing. Whether you’re there for the high-stakes "Run for the Roses," the sea of extravagant hats or the cold sting of a Mint Julep, the Kentucky Derby is a tradition like no other.

This year, Golden Tempo took the crown (and the roses), making Cherie DeVaux the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby. Entering the gate as a massive underdog at 23-1 odds, Golden Tempo spent most of the race lagging behind the pack. However, a game-changing sprint down the final stretch secured a historic finish.
