Willis-ing a New Era

In perhaps the biggest move of the day, Miami finally parted ways with Tua Tagovailoa. Despite years of public backing, the team released the former first-round pick, swallowing an NFL-record $99 million in dead cap space to do it.

Miami didn’t wait long to fill the void, signing ex-Packers QB Malik Willis to a 3-year, $67.5 million deal. However, the decision came with plenty of controversy: Some fans are upset, concerned that Tua’s replacement isn’t even a starting quarterback, while others defend the decision, citing Willis’ impressive track record in starts. Over two seasons, Willis started three games for the Packers, notching wins in two of three games. He also came in for an injured Jordan Love against the Packers and threw a touchdown pass to lead the winning drive. Though Willis doesn’t have much NFL experience, he’s proven his worth when he’s been given an opportunity. And for the Dolphins, that might be the best case scenario.

Etienne’s Homecoming

Travis Etienne is headed back to his roots. The former Jacksonville RB1 signed a 4-year, $52 million deal with the New Orleans Saints, making him the highest-paid back in the league by total value.

Etienne was the undisputed RB1 in Jacksonville, but his role in NOLA is unclear. Many speculate the trade may symbolize the end of Alvin Kamara’s legendary tenure as a Saint. With Kamara turning 31 and coming off an injury-plagued 2025, Etienne represents a much-needed youth movement in the Saints' backfield.

Midwest Moves

Michael Pittman Jr. swapped Indianapolis for Pittsburgh in a trade to the Steelers Monday. The trade provides a much-needed boost for Pittsburgh’s receiving corps, as they now have two key receivers in Pittman and DK Metcalf. However, they still lack a quarterback after Aaron Rodgers’ retirement and Malik Willis’ signing with the Dolphins. On the other hand, the Colts struck gold with a successful season from Daniel Jones but are now left with questions in their receiving corps.

Star Power in San Fran

After 12 iconic seasons and 11 straight 1,000-yard campaigns, Mike Evans is leaving Tampa Bay. Evans signed a 3-year, $60.4 million deal to head west and join the 49ers.

Brock Purdy now has an embarrassment of riches: Evans joins Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall to create arguably the most physical receiving corps in the NFL. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, looks to the future with young stars Tez Johnson and Emeka Egbuka, bolstered by veteran Chris Godwin Jr.

Chiefs Comeback Loading…

After missing the playoffs last year for the first time since 2014, Kansas City played aggressive. The Chiefs signed Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III to a 3-year deal to fix a stagnant run game. Perhaps more importantly, Travis Kelce has reportedly informed the team he’s returning for his 14th season, passing on retirement to help Patrick Mahomes get the Chiefs back to the postseason.
