Fall Sports in Full Swing
College football contenders rise and fall, the MLB postseason begins and chaos is the only constant.
Hey Team đź‘‹
Sports had my head on a swivel this weekend – and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Saturday delivered what might’ve been the best college football slate of the season, while Sunday’s NFL action brought its usual chaos. The U.S. came just strokes away from pulling off the largest comeback in Ryder Cup history, bringing drama until 5 p.m. on Sunday, which is all golf fans could ask for. And to top it all off, the MLB playoff picture is officially set, with 12 teams now locked in for October.

The Postseason Party Starts Now

October might just be the best month in sports. College football and NFL teams begin to show their true colors in high-stakes matchups, and postseason baseball takes center stage. It doesn’t get much better than this – and now it’s finally here.
The Guardians proved last weekend that “impossible” is just an opinion, overcoming the largest deficit in MLB history (15.5 games) to overtake the Tigers and win the AL Central. On the flip side, the Mets landed on a far less flattering list: One of the worst collapses in MLB history, missing the postseason altogether. Where the Mets fell short, the Cincinnati Reds stepped up, earning their first postseason berth in five seasons. The road to the World Series starts today. Here’s the long-awaited MLB playoff picture:

Week 6 AP Poll

It happens every year, and yet it still sneaks up on me. Somehow, Week 6 of college football is already upon us. What’s wild is that we still don’t really know who’s for real. Sure, Ohio State, Miami, Oregon and Ole Miss look legit. But beyond that? It’s still murky. Penn State has hovered near the top of the rankings all season, but they just got knocked off by Oregon in Happy Valley. Meanwhile, Florida State climbed all the way into the top 10 after starting unranked, just to get stunned by unranked Virginia.
The SEC feels loaded, but it’s hard to tell how much substance is behind the shine. Ole Miss upset LSU, Mississippi State pushed No. 15 Tennessee to overtime and Alabama snapped Georgia’s 33-game home win streak. Week 6 will bring even more SEC showdowns, featuring No. 16 Vanderbilt at No. 10 Alabama, Kentucky at No. 12 Georgia, No. 9 Texas at Florida and the scrappy Mississippi State at No. 6 Texas A&M. Plus, this weekend’s slate features what could be the ACC game of the year, as No. 3 Miami takes on No. 18 FSU in Tallahassee. Hopefully, this weekend can deliver some clarity about who’s built to last. If not, I’m just as happy to watch the drama unfold and the upsets roll in.
